Celebrating an Unsung Hero: Musa Umar Yashi – The Executive Director [Humanitarian Affairs] NEDC by Yazid Inuwa MK Bauchi

A career civil servant, erudite technocrat of international repute, Malam Musa Umar Yashi is currently the Executive Director of Humanitarian Affairs with the North East Development Commission (NEDC). The name Musa Yashi is a household term in the humanitarian front; however, he is a silent achiever and a prolific philanthropist. He is, nonetheless, an unsung hero in the humanitarian front, with decades of working experience under the public clime.

Held from Yashi, a satellite town within the neighborhood of the famous Yankari Game Reserve, of Alkhairi local government, in Bauchi state, Malam Musa Umar Yashi, popularly known as Musa Yashi, is a distinguished gentleman, with an enviable record of philanthropic and humanitarian services, a feat he attained, hitherto far ahead of his contemporaries. 

Malam Musa Yashi's philosophy in life is, “the fruit of labour is in the seed”. That is why he prioritizes provision of education to the sons and daughters of the impoverished, within and even beyond his immediate community. Musa Yashi has been sponsoring, both national and international scholarship, to innumerous less privileged sons and daughters, right from primary to postgraduate levels. 

He is one of the highest providers of vocational training, skill acquisition and economic empowerment packages, for the downtrodden rural women and the gullible unemployed youths across the seven northeastern states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe respectively. He is also a major provider of rural electrification, hospital equipment, maternity consumables, teaching and learning materials, across his immediate locality of Alkhairi local government, and Bauchi state, by extension.

Although, he does not show to the gallery, most of his philanthropic and humanitarian services. And perhaps, being a none partisan political actor in the Northeastern region, Musa Yashi sacrificed his time, energy and resources towards the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election. Notwithstanding, Malam Yashi is synonymous to President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, because of his major contribution towards the success of President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. He is, undoubtedly, inspiring a great deal of Renewed Hope to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) , Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) across board.
